CARING FOR YOUR CHILDREN'S EYES
Ensuring your child has a regular eye test is important for their eye health and their development. Most infants and pre-school children have a vision screening as part of their routine developmental checks. Although these early checks are important, they often aren't as thorough as a full eye test by a qualified optician and we recommend booking an appointment to see us when your child is around 4 years old. However, if you have any concerns about your child's vision at an earlier age, do not hesitate to contact us sooner.
EYE TESTS FOR KIDS
Safely and carefully delivered, our children's eye examinations are fun and friendly.
A sight test may seem like a daunting experience for your child, but let us assure you that your child will receive the care and attention they deserve from our optometrist and practice team. We have designed a child-friendly eye examination using methods such as picture cards, if required, which means we can thoroughly and professionally test the eyes of even the youngest patient.
ARE CHILDREN'S EYE TESTS FREE?
Free NHS sight tests are available for children under 16 and for young people under 19 in full-time education. For more information about eligibility for NHS eye tests, visit their website, or contact our team for any questions about booking an appointment for your child.
COLORIMETRY AND VISUAL STRESS
COLOURED OVERLAYS & LENSES
In a specialised clinic, we offer colorimetry to alleviate symptoms of visual stress.
Visual stress (also known as Meares-Irlen Syndrome) causes symptoms when reading black text on a white background such as letters moving, sore eyes or headaches. Following a thorough eye examination to rule out any other potential problems, we explore the use of coloured overlays to monitor their impact on reading and advise if tinted spectacle lenses would be appropriate.
GLASSES FOR KIDS
If it is necessary for your child to wear glasses, our friendly and experienced team can advise you on our suitable range of children's eyewear. Kids glasses are specifically designed to comfortably fit their features and are made from durable materials to keep up with their active lifestyles.
